In Tokyo, there are popular dolls called Ball-Jointed Dolls. They are so popular that there are conventions where people show off their dolls every month! Ball-Jointed Dolls are characterised by their ball joints for their arms and legs, and are commonly made if resin. The prices of these dolls can range anywhere from 200USD - 2,000USD! But don't let the price scare you, they are very beautiful and definitely worth every penny!
The doll convention I frequent is called Tokyo Dollshow and it was originally held in Hamamatsucho, Tokyo, but has recently moved to Ikebukuro's Sunshine City! The convention center has multiple floors with different sellers and things to buy. Some sellers are from big companies like Volks, but most sellers are just avid fans of dolls and want to show off their homemade creations!People make custom clothes, wigs, and even make up for their dolls, and doll conventions are a great place to show off their hard work! Doll conventions are a great place to buy one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories for your dolls. It is also nice to look at different models and types of dolls at these conventions before deciding on buying your own.
There are a few rules to follow whilst you're at the convention such as no touching the displays/other people's dolls and you must always ask permission before taking any photos of the displays. This is to make sure that other people's dolls and displays do not get damaged!Of course if you have your own doll you should bring it so they can meet new friends! When I went to DollShow I brought my tiny doll named Julian! He really loved the convention and had a lot of fun meeting all the new friends~
Julian's the tiny doll at the bottom in the cute blue sailor outfit I bought for only 1,000 Yen! He's also with his pet cat named Waffles who follows him around~- Admin LuInformation and Access
